very new to this this craft. i have been using a piece of railway iron with a flattened end, but i’m getting more serious about blacksmithing and am wondering what anvi i should buy in australia.
Railway works great, but if you are finding the space on the surface a bit limited, then yeah an anvil will be better. I would keep an eye open in your local classifieds, auctions, garage sales with tools listed, etc. Some anvils that I have found in the states I found for very cheap because it was just at a garage sale with tools listed, so it didn’t attract many buyers.
You’ll be better off finding an anvil used than new, new cost a pretty dime and shipping can be a bear.
